Meet Dr. Joanna Johnson

Dr Joanna Johnson, DNP has been a registered nurse since 2002, and received her Nurse Practitioner degree in 2014 through the University of North Dakota. Since this time, she has worked in the inpatient, outpatient and residential care settings providing psychiatric care to children and adults with a mental health diagnosis. Joanna has a wide range of nursing experience in both medical and psychiatric care. She is accredited by the American Nurses Credentialing Center as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner and is trained to provide psychiatric diagnostic assessments, psychotherapy, medication management, and follow up for children, adolescents and adults.

Joanna includes a holistic approach to her treatment plans. In addition to medication management, she educates clients on how to integrate healthy lifestyle choices and relaxation into daily life to help create more balance. She also works with clients to help them challenge negative thoughts, increase communication skills and enhance selfefficacy. Joanna treats all psychiatric conditions including mood disorders and depression, anxiety disorders, attention deficit disorders, behavioral disorders, thought related disorders and schizophrenia.

Joanna’s professional development includes activities on the local and national level. Joanna engages in mentoring and preceptorship for Nurse Practitioner students, and has been an invited guest at local educational seminars. Joanna has an interest in pharmacogenomic testing, and enjoys sharing her enthusiasm by giving lectures on this topic to other health care professionals at national conferences.
